STEEP FILM SOCIETYDECEMBER AND JANUARY FILMS
Steep Film Society is a charity that shows films every fortnight at Steep village hall. Most people who watch these films are members of the society, and they pay £6 per showing, but non-member guests are welcome – they just pay a bit more. To become a member (which is free) go to steepfilmsociety.org.uk or contact the chairman of the trustees, Robin Hollington at [email protected]. For bookings, best to do it on line, but failing that by email to Robin or by phone (01730 774869).
Friday 13 December: THE HOLDOVERS
Xmas Jumpers & free mulled wine and mince pies
From acclaimed director Alexander Payne, THE HOLDOVERS follows a curmudgeonly instructor (Paul Giamatti) at a New England prep school who is forced to remain on campus during Christmas break to babysit the handful of students with nowhere to go. Eventually he forms an unlikely bond with one of them — a damaged, brainy troublemaker (newcomer Dominic Sessa) — and with the school’s head cook, who has just lost a son in Vietnam (Da’Vine Joy Randolph).
