Getting to Steep
Steep is only 2 miles from Petersfield, a lively market town with a main line railway station. All trains, operated by South Western Railway, stop here and thus London (Waterloo) is a little over 1 hour away. Similarly Portsmouth can be reached in 30 minutes and from there ferries can be taken to the Isle of Wight. By changing at Havant, trains can be taken to Southampton, Chichester and Brighton.
The main A3 London to Portsmouth road separates Steep from Petersfield and gives easy access to Guildford and London as well as Portsmouth by car. Petersfield is also on the cross country route (A272) which runs from Winchester in the west to East Sussex, via Midhurst and Petworth.
Petersfield is also on the coach route from London to Portsmouth operated by National Express. Local buses operate to Steep (although not very often) and the other outlying villages from Petersfield and one can also reach Winchester, Alton and Waterlooville by bus.
Use the Google map above to get directions, or enter the following postcode (GU32 2DW) in a sat-nav system and you should arrive in the centre of the village.
